Teen Dies In One Vehicle Crash

(NOTTAWA TOWNSHIP) – Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in a one vehicle crash that claimed the life of a teen.
Michigan State Police say troopers were called to a crash on M-86 near Shimmel Road in Nottawa Township Sunday at 9:30 PM. They determined that a Dodge Charger, driven by a 19 year old woman from Three Rivers, was traveling west on M-86 when it passed another vehicle, ran off the roadway, overcorrected and then went airborne and rolled over.
In addition to the driver, there were six other occupants of the vehicle. One of them, a 13 year old girl, was ejected and declared dead at the scene. Her family has been notified.
No word was given on the condition of the other individuals.
The crash remains under investigation.
Assisting at the scene were the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office, the Constantine Police Department, the Centreville and Three Rivers Fire Departments, along with Life Care Ambulance and St. Joseph County Victim Services.
