One Dead And 11 Injured In Elkhart Shooting

(ELKHART) – A Sunday morning shooting in Elkhart has left one person dead and 11 others injured.
The Elkhart Police Department was called to the 300 block of West Garfield Avenue just after 1 AM Sunday on a report of shots being fired. When they arrived, officers found 12 people had been shot, and one of them, a man, died from his injuries. His name has not been released.
The other victims were taken to area hospitals to be treated.
Elkhart Mayor Rod Roberson issued a media release, saying his heart aches for the community. He says the pain and ripple effect of this devastating event will undoubtedly be felt deeply across the entire community for a long time. Roberson says the City of Elkhart is heartbroken and he is personally devastated by this profound loss and trauma.
