Angola Man Arrested After Short Pursuit

(ANGOLA) – A short chase has landed an Angola man in jail.
Just after 6:30 PM Tuesday, an Indiana State Police Trooper attempted to stop a motorcycle for speeding in Steuben County County Road 600 East near County Road 400 North. The driver refused to stop for the Trooper and fled to 5670 East 100 North.
After leading the Trooper behind a structure on the property, the motorcyclist stopped and got off the bike. The Trooper watched him as he threw an object away from the scene. Then after briefly attempting to resist arrest, the rider was taken into custody.
The driver of the motorcycle was identified as 60 year old Alan Jones of Angola. The article that was thrown was recovered and contained a large amount of suspected methamphetamine.
After being cleared by medical professionals, Jones was transported to the Steuben County Jail and charged with felony counts of dealing meth, possession of meth, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and obstruction of justice. He is also facing misdemeanor charges of resisting law enforcement and intimidation.
Assisting troopers were the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office and Steuben County EMS.
