Sturgis girls track team 2nd at Div. 1 Regionals, multiple state qualifiers

(GRAND LEDGE) – The Sturgis girls track team came in second at the Division 1 Regional meet at Grand Ledge. Several Lady Trojans will be moving on to the State Finals. Vivian Massey was Regional Champion in the adaptive shot put, the first ever in Division 1 history. Eleena Kelly was Regional Champion in the discus with a lifetime best thrown of 121’9”. Keyanna O’Tey claimed Regional Championships in the 100 meters and the 200 meters. O’Tey was also part of the 400 meter relay team of Tenley Banaszak, Angela Cary and Hannah Garbine who won a Regional Championship and set a new school record with a time of 49.38 seconds. In addition, the 800 meter relay team of Banaszak, Garbine, O’Tey and Adison Nettleman finished third and qualified for State in a new school record time of 1:43.74. The 3200 meter relay team came in third. Emma Garbine, Tessa Hatt, Sydney Bir and Berkley Holtz set a new school record time of 9:42.09 in the event.
