Sturgis baseball sweeps home opener over Colon 12-0, 7-0

(STURGIS) – The Sturgis boys baseball team won their home openers, beating county rival Colon 12-0 and 7-0 in non conference action. Tanner Patrick picked up the pitching win in Game One for the Trojans, striking out 8 in three innings of work. Hunter Kosmerick worked two innings and had 4 strikeouts. Logan Markey had 2 hits and 3 RBI for Sturgis. Gavin Moore had 2 RBI while Patrick, Kosmerick and Gibson Cary each had an RBI. Maverick Downs was the losing pitcher for Colon in the first game while Jacob Bower had the lone Magi hit in the game. In Game Two, Cary went four innings on the mound and struck out 10 batters. Moore pitched the last two innings of the game and struck out 5. Gavin PeDue had 2 hits and 3 RBI for Sturgis. Zach Green had 2 RBI and Patrick also drove in a run. Ayden Delp had one hit for Colon in the second game Sturgis is now 2-1 on the season while Colon is 0-2.
