(ELKHART COUNTY) – Authorities say a man suffered a medical emergency, prior to an automobile crash.

According to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office, 76 year old John Pickard of Granger was driving south on Ash Road just after 9:30 AM Saturday when he had the medical emergency. He lost control of his pick up, went off the side of the road and crashed into a tree.

Ash was found unresponsive and not breathing by first responders. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say Ash didn’t suffer any injuries in the crash, which is still under investigation.
