(KALAMAZOO) – A Kalamazoo based entertainment venue has new owners, and they’re from Sturgis.

According to WWMT, it was announced Tuesday morning that Holly and Dan Carmichael of Sturgis are the new owners of the Kalamazoo State Theatre.
In November 2024, the Kalamazoo State Theatre stated they were going to pause operations to shop for new owners. The Carmichael’s announced that they purchased the theatre and have plans to restore it and preserve it.
The Carmichael’s also announced that they bought Harvey’s On The Mall, but no additional information for it’s future was announced.

The State Threatre has been owned by the Hinman Company who purchased it in 1985.

There are no timelines for when the theatre will re-open. Holly Carmichael says they hope to have an event for the building’s 100th anniversary in 2027
