The Washington Nationals are for the first time champions of baseball. They won game 7 of the World Series in Houston last night (Wed). ABC's Dave Packer reports World Series/Nats Win (A1898)

The call on ESPN Radio as Howie Kendrick hits a 2-Run HR to give the Nationals a 3-2 lead over the Astros. Washington beat Houston 6-2 in game seven to win their first world series in franchise history. PBP: Nationals 3-2/Kendrick 2-Run Home Run (A2183)

There’s still a little more baseball to take care of before we turn the page of Fall. Lakeland will host the first NECC Home Run Derby this Sunday afternoon. Proceeds from the event will go to Hello Gorgeous for Breast Cancer Awareness.

West Noble dominated the NECC Big School All Conference football squad. Ten chargers were named to the honor squad.
Lakeland’s Lincoln Ott was named all conference on the defensive line, along with defensive back Kenny Walker, punter Jaron Fry, and at-large offensive selection Colton Isaacs. Honorable mentions for the Lakers were Camryn Holbrook, Miguel Delapaz, and Nathan Grossman.
In the small school division, Prairie Heights put Ethan Hoover on the first team offense, while Isaac Tarney made the all-conference defensive list.
