Seven People Injured In Two Vehicle Crash

(POKAGON TOWNSHIP) – Seven people, including five juveniles, were injured over the weekend in a two vehicle crash.

Cass County Sheriff Clint Roach says at 10:30 AM Saturday, his deputies were called to investigate an accident in Pokagon Township. Deputies determined that 41 year old Thomas Hanson of Niles was heading north on M-51 near Crystal Springs Street and was rear ended by another northbound vehicle, driven by 63 year old Brian Bowditch of Portage.

Hanson and his passengers, 35 year old Rayann Hanson and five juveniles, were transported by SMCAS Ambulance to South Bend Memorial Hospital and Niles Corwell Health to be treated for their injuries. The juveniles were not wearing their seatbelts, or in proper child restraints.

Assisting at the scene were the Pokagon Tribal Police, the Pokagon Township Fire Department and the Michigan State Police.
