The community is invited to participate in the inaugural Turtle Trot 5K & Fun Run on May 26, 2025, at Turkey Lake Tavern in Lagrange, Indiana. This meaningful event honors the life and spirit of ConLei Walworth, a beloved local youth remembered for her love of turtles and Big Turkey Lake.

Hosted in her memory, the Turtle Trot aims to raise funds for The Cure Starts Now and the Courage for ConLei chapter, advancing critical research in the fight against childhood brain cancer. ConLei, affectionately known as the “Turtle Whisperer,” passed away at age 13 after an 8½-month battle with DMG, a rare form of brain cancer. Her passion for wildlife and the outdoors continues to inspire those around her.

The event will feature a timed 5K race and a Fun Run/Walk, with a post-race celebration including raffles, a 50/50 drawing, refreshments, and family-friendly activities. Both in-person and virtual registration options are available, allowing supporters from across the country to take part.

All proceeds will go directly to The Cure Starts Now, a nonprofit organization committed to funding innovative research for pediatric brain cancer.
