One Dead In Cass County Crash

(SILVER CREEK TOWNSHIP) – One person is dead in single vehicle crash that happened in Southern Michigan.
Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke says at 11:57 AM Thursday, his department was called to a crash on Garrett Road north of M-62 in Silver Creek Township.
The initial investigation showed that the vehicle was traveling south on Garrett Road, when it crossed the centerline and left the roadway. It went down a ditch and rolled over before coming to rest in a field.
The driver was trapped under the vehicle. They were removed by first responders and taken to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital where they were pronounced dead. Their name has not been released pending notification of family members.
The passenger was also transported to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital but refused medical treatment.
Deputies say seat belts were not being worn at the time of the crash.
Assisting at the scene were the Pokagon Tribal Police and Dowagiac Police Departments, the Indian Lake Fire Department and Indian Lake First Responders and the SMCAS Ambulance Service.
The crash remains under investigation.
