Sturgis Chamber Board Searching For New Executive Director

(STURGIS) – The search is on for the next Executive Director of the Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce.
Roxanne Persing announced in December that she was resigning as the Chamber Director to return to Sturgis High School as a teacher. Persing had been a teacher for many years before being hired as the Chamber Director in June of 2021.
The Chamber Executive Director is responsible for the organization’s consistent achievement of the mission and financial objectives. Specific areas of responsibility include executive leadership of the staff; support of positive member relations; community connecting and liaison activities and active participation of leadership in local, county and if appropriate, state and national levels on advocacy activities relating to business policy, legislation and regulation.
Minimum qualifications include a college degree in a professional discipline relevant to providing executive leadership or equivalent experiences; five years of experience in a business related field or other leadership position; and present a professional image to members of the greater community.
The Director should have excellent professional communication, including written and oral communication skills, strong listening skills and the ability to make presentations to groups. In addition, they should have strong organizational skills, including the ability to plan, organize and set long term strategy with an appropriate work plan to accomplish it.
The Director should be able to work collaboratively and positively with others of diverse backgrounds, opinions and needs.
