(CENTREVILLE) - A Sturgis woman has been sentenced in connection with the death of her two year old daughter.
St. Joseph County Circuit Court officials say on Thursday 21 year old Paige Bohne has been sentenced from 225 months to 45 years on a charge of first degree child abuse. She was also sentenced from 4 years and 9 months to 10 years on a charge of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder by suffocation or strangulation.
Circuit Court Judge Paul Stutesman ordered the sentences to run concurrently.
On November 7, 2024 at 12:47 AM, the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Office along with medical first responders were sent to the Memory Lane Trailer Park on West U.S. 12 for an unresponsive child. Attempts to revive the child were unsuccessful, and the girl was pronounced dead at the scene.
The St. Joseph County Major Crimes Task Force was activated and Bohne was eventually taken into custody.
