(MOTTVILLE TOWNSHIP) - An Indiana man has been arrested for allegedly staging his own kidnapping and assault.
Chief Deputy Zachary Zuk of the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Office says the suspect was arrested Thursday on charges of aggravated stalking and violating a personal protection order.
The man used a telecommunications device to contact a protected party, prompting them to report the incident to the Sheriff's Office out of concern for his own safety. Following several days of investigation, Zuk says deputies located the suspect and determined that the reported kidnapping and assault had been entirely fabricated.
Zuk says this case required significant time and resources to resolve, diverting deputies from other important assignments within our community.
