(CONSTANTINE) - The Village of Constantine will be shutting down their water system to fix a water main break.
Village Manager Jim Bontrager says a ten-inch water main break occurred at 1020 South Washington Street. He says the Village will shut down the water system at 8:30 AM Today for the repair, which should take between 2 and 2 ½ hours to complete.
Once the repairs start, Bontrager says a Boil Water Advisory will be in effect until the water main is fixed. Please don't drink the water without boiling it first until the repairs are finished. Make sure you bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute and then let it cool before using it.
You can also you bottled water.
Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and preparing food.
Please continue using boiled or bottled water until further notice.
Bontrager says they apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate the communities' patience and understanding as crews work to complete these necessary repairs.
