(LANSING) - Michigan saw its seasonally adjusted unemployment rate go down slightly from June to July.

Data released Thursday by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget shows the unemployment rate dropped from 5% in June to 4.9% in July.

Employment receded by 23,000 over the month, while the number of unemployed people fell by 6,000, resulting in a labor force reduction of 29,000 between June and July.

In addition, Michigan's labor force participation rate decreased by four-tenths of a percentage point to 59.1 percent in July. That is the number of people 16 and older in Michigan that are either working or looking for work.
