(COLDWATER) - A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle.
Coldwater Deputy Police Chief Patrick Beeman says officers were dispatched to South Clay Street near Darling Drive at 11:30 PM Friday. Their investigation determined that a 25-year-old man was in the northbound lane of South Clay Street when he was struck by a passing motorist.
The vehicle was being driven by a 41-year-old Coldwater woman who was heading north at the time of the crash.
The victim was transported to Insight Hospital and Medical Center of Coldwater where he was pronounced dead at 12:29 AM Saturday.
Police are working to confirm the identity of the pedestrian before releasing further details. Coldwater Police requested the assistance of a traffic crash reconstructionist from the Michigan State Police.
Also assisting were the Branch County Sheriff's Office, the Coldwater Fire Department, the Coldwater Department of Municipal Services and Life Care Ambulance.
