(SHIPSHEWANA) - A Shipshewana woman has been arrested in connection with the death of her infant.
The Indiana State Police, in coordination with the LaGrange County Sheriff's Office, the Shipshewana Marshal's Office and the LaGrange County Coroner's Office have concluded an investigation into the death of an infant at a residence in Shipshewana.
On April 26, 2026, Indiana State Police detectives were called to a residence in Shipshewana to investigate the death of an infant. Detectives immediately began a coordinated, multi-agency investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
During the investigation, detectives determined there was enough evidence to charge the infant's mother.
On July 29, 24-year-old Chantel Cunningham of Shipshewana was arrested on felony charges of murder, and neglect of a dependent causing death.
Cunningham is being held in the LaGrange County Jail.
