(COLDWATER) - The suspect arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing at a Coldwater business has been arraigned.

Branch County District Court officials say 20 year old Valmir Djempsley has been officially charged with open murder and bond has been denied.

Coldwater Director of Public Safety Joseph Scheid says police, fire and ambulance personnel were dispatched to Clemens Food Group at 7:41 PM Monday in response to a stabling.

21-year-old Brandon Eduardo Velasquez Chavez was pronounced dead at the scene from his wounds, despite the Coldwater Fire Department and Life Care Ambulance personnel treating him once they arrived.

Djempsley was detained by the Branch County Sheriff's Office.

Coldwater Police Officers interviewed several witnesses. They report that Chavez and Djempsley got into a verbal argument while working near each other at the plant. When the argument was over, Djempsley reportedly stabbed Chavez in the back.

Djempsley is scheduled to be back in court on July 9 at 1:30 PM.
