Extreme Heat Warning In Effect For Listening Area

(UNDATED) - A heat wave will blanket the listening area for most of the week.

Because of that, the National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning from 2 PM Monday until 8 PM Thursday. This includes, St. Joseph, Branch and Cass Counties in Michigan along with LaGrange, Noble, Ellkhart, Steuben and DeKalb Counties in Indiana.

An extended period of hot conditions with daily temperatures in the 90's are likely. Heat index values up to 105 degrees are possible during the afternoon and early evening hours.

Due to these temperatures, the chance for heat related illnesses will increase significantly.

Remember to drink plenty of fluids, such as water and fruit juices. Stay in an air conditioned room and stay out of the sun. If you work outdoors take frequent breaks. Also remember to check on relatives and neighbors.

Do no leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car

interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
