(UNDATED) - The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF-1 tornado touched down in Branch County early Wednesday morning.

NWS investigators say an area of thunderstorm moves across far southern Lower Michigan during the early morning hours of April 15th. A brief tornado has been confirmed south of Coldwater.

At 1:04 AM the tornado touched down 3 miles south southeast of Coldwater. It was on the ground for three minutes traveling just over two and a half miles and lifted back up 2 miles southwest of Marble Lake. Wind speeds are estimated at 90 miles an hour with a width of 100 yards.

The tornado may have attempted to touch down on Sanford Road, north of Fenn Road where a barn suffered damage with debris thrown to the east, impacting portions of a solar farm with some damage to panels. A few tree tops showed some minor damage from Sanford Road to near Interstate 69 where it appears the circulation finally touched down at a business on the southeast side of the Interstate, causing damage to a pole barn on the property.

The tornado continued southeast causing tree damage until reaching the area of Dubendorf and Quimby Roads where a garage lost its roof, trees were blown down and vinyl fencing around a pool was blown down.

The tornado then impacted a pole barn on South Wood Road, throwing the debris well east into the field before lifting.

No injuries were reported and damage estimates have not been released.
