(COLDWATER) - Multiple charges have been filed against a Coldwater man following an incident.
In a media release, the Coldwater Department of Public Safety says Coldwater Police were called Thursday night to investigate an incident at a home on Williams Street. Witnesses say that 34 year old Ryan Cotton made threats and displayed a firearm before assaulting a woman by body slamming her on a bed.
It's alleged that Cotton was drunk at the time of the incident.
Officers searched a garage attic where Cotton lived and found a loaded .40 caliber handgun along with additional ammunition.
According to Branch County District Court online records, Cotton was arraigned Friday on felony charges of assault with a dangerous weapon; domestic violence, and felony firearms possession of a firearm by a felon.
