(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indiana animal health officials have confirmed another spike in bird flu cases in LaGrange County.
Six new cases were reported on Wednesday, which brings the county's total to 11 outbreaks in just one week.
The latest cases involve six flocks that total over 107,000 birds. All of the affected sites are now under quarantine. State officials have activated a 10 kilometer control zone along with a 20 kilometer surveillance zone that covers parts of LaGrange, Elkhart and Noble Counties.
The State Board of Animal Health says Indiana remains the top duck producing state in the country. That makes rapid detection and containment especially critical.
