300 Indiana National Guard Soldiers Deploying to Washington, DC Next Month

(INDIANAPOLIS) - Around 300 Indiana National Guard soldiers will deploy to Washington, DC, next month to assist with an ongoing safety operation requested by the DC National Guard. Governor Mike Braun authorized the mission, which will rotate in a new group of Guardsmen to replace those who have been stationed in the capital since August 2025. "Hoosiers are proud of our Guardsmen, who are well-trained and fully prepared for this mission," Braun said. "We are grateful for their service and support in our nation's capital." Most of the deploying soldiers come from artillery and engineering units based in Bloomington and Gary.
