Sturgis Kiwanis Honor February Students Of The Month

(STURGIS) - The Sturgis Kiwanis Club recently honored the Sturgis H.S. Key Club February Students of the Month.

Guadalupe Luna Gonzalez is a senior and completed 20 hours of community service in 7 events. Last year she completed 21 hours. Lupe is a student in the EMC program. She'd also in 3 college classes at GOCC and AP Pre-Calculus and Spanish 4 at the high school. She hopes to enter the nursing program at GOCC next year with the goal of becoming a labor and delivery nurse.

Yuri Rueda is a senior and also completed 20 hours of community service in 7 events. Last year she completed 16 hours. Yuri is a student in the CTE marketing program and is also in Spanish 5. She plans to go to school in Chicago to get her medical assistant certificate.

Jennifer Guerra is a senior and completed 18 hours of community service in 6 events. Last year she also completed 20 hours. Jennifer is in three college classes this semester and also in the EMC program. She's also an intern at the Sturgis Area Chamber of Commerce. She plans to pursue a career in fashion design.

These young women are representative of a Key Club that over 120 total members this year and have participated and or volunteered in events across Sturgis. These include recent and upcoming events like: Daddy Daughter Dance and Easter Egg prep and hunts at The Doyle Center and Thurston Woods Park, Kiwanis Food Packing, Rummage Sale set up at The Sturgis Presbyterian Church, and helping with Bingo at Thurston Woods Village.

Key Club is a student run organization at Sturgis High School that is sponsored by the Sturgis Noon Kiwanis Club.
