(LAGRANGE) - The Indiana State Police Cold Case Unit is looking for information into the death of an Amish teen almost sixty years ago.

The incident happened on March 22, 1969. 17 year old Mervin Lehman and his nephew Ernest Lehman were in a buggy on LaGrange County Road 300 West near County Road 350 South around midnight.

According to Ernest Lehman, a large rock was thrown from a passing vehicle and struck Mervin in the chest and he slumped over. They hurried home and a neighbor drove Mervin to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

ISP says on the same night, just two miles away and ten minutes before the incident with Mervin Lehman, a similar incident occurred. This time a large chuck of asphalt was thrown into a buggy, injuring two people.

21 year old Emma Miller of LaGrange suffered severe lacerations and a skull fracture. 21 year old Glen Troyer of Topeka had a cut on the forehead.

The ISP Cold Case Team is asking for the community's assistance in the Mervin Lehman case, along with the second incident. If anyone has tips, remembers anything of interest, or has information, they are encouraged to call the Indiana State Police Area 2 Cold Case Team at 1-800-453-4756.
