(STURGIS) – The Sturgis Department of Public Services crews will begin a one-time brush pickup starting Monday, November 17th.

The special collection is being scheduled due to the large number of fallen limbs from the heavy snow this past weekend. In addition, crews continued leaf pickup Monday where they left off Friday of last week.

Residents are asked to please place your brush and tree limbs in the right-of-way/terrace area at 7 AM November 17 to ensure pickup. Crews will make one pass through town, starting as usual on the north side and working south. Any brush placed out after crews have passed through may not be collected.

With brush and leaf pickup running at the same time, residents are asked to create separate piles in the right-of-way/terrace area for brush and leaves. As with all brush pickups, please remember these rules: No limbs, branches, or brush material larger than 4 inches in diameter will be collected; No limbs, branches, or brush material longer than 8 feet in length will be collected; No grass clippings, roots, thorn-bearing branches, tree trunks, stumps, or construction materials will be collected; A limit of 1 truck load of material per parcel will be collected and hauled away; And Materials must be neatly stacked on the terrace away from objects or obstructions such as power poles, guy wires, sign posts, valve boxes, etc.

Leaf pickup will continue as weather permits through the end of November. Crews have started on the north side of town and are working south. Once they have completed a full sweep through town they will start again on the north side.
