(LAGRANGE COUNTY) - According to a November 10 update from the Indiana State Board of Animal Health, five new cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), commonly known as bird flu, have been detected in Indiana, bringing the total to ten new cases since Friday.

These recent detections involve five different flocks, totaling more than 71,200 birds. This follows previous cases identified in LaGrange County.

Currently, over 155,000 commercial egg layers, meat ducks, and breeder ducks across the state are under quarantine, and officials are closely monitoring surrounding counties for further spread. Board officials report that more than 8.5 million domestic birds nationwide have died this year due to the ongoing HPAI outbreak.
