(COLDWATER LAKE) - Bent Prop Pub has announced it is closing permanently, ending a run that began just before the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a message to the community, the owners said the decision came after months of difficult conversations and was driven by family priorities. They called the closure "heartbreaking," citing the strong connection the pub built with Coldwater Lake residents and visitors.

The pub opened in early 2020, just as pandemic restrictions took hold. The owners said surviving those early years was only possible because of steady community support.

They also praised their staff, many of them seasonal workers who returned year after year, calling them a major part of what made Bent Prop successful.

Over the years, Bent Prop Pub hosted live music, lake events, weddings, fundraisers, and private celebrations. The owners said the business grew into more than a bar or restaurant, becoming a gathering place for the lake community.

The owners said they hope the property may one day reopen under new ownership. In the coming days, they plan to offer items from the building for sale as keepsakes for longtime patrons.
