(THREE RIVERS) – The City of Three Rivers has purchased three pieces of property that are tax delinquent.

During their July 15 meeting the Three Rivers City Commission voted to purchase the three properties, prior to the annual St. Joseph County tax sale. The properties are all vacant lots and are located at 418 South Main Street, 509 Spring Street and 819 Fifth Street.

Part of the agreement to buy the lands was that the purchase price would not be more than $15,000. The current total amount of the taxes owed on the properties is just under $13,000.

Three Rivers City officials say they want to eventually sell the three pieces of land to qualified buyers, with the hope of constructing residential units.
