Winter Storm Watch Issued For Friday And Saturday

(UNDATED) – A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for portions of Southern Michigan and Northern Indiana.
The National Weather Service says the Winter Storm Watch will be in effect from 10 AM Friday until 1 PM Saturday for St. Joseph, Branch, Cass and Hillsdale Counties in Michigan, along with LaGrange, Elkhart and Steuben Counties in Northern Indiana.
Forecasters say a weak, upper level system will start moving east through the Great Lakes Thursday morning.
The front will continue moving through the area Friday with 4 to 8 inches of snow possible in the Watch Area. There could also be snow mixed with or changing over to rain during the day on Friday. The worst conditions are expected to be late Friday night into Saturday.
It will be windy both Friday and Saturday with gusts up to 35 to 45 MPH, causing some blowing and drifting of snow.
Temperatures will be cold as well. Highs on Saturday will be in the upper 20’s. Lows Saturday night will drop to 5 above with wind chills below zero. On Sunday, high temperatures will only be in the low teens, with wind chills well below zero.
The cold and snow will continue into the first of next week.
