(UNION TOWNSHIP) – Several people were injured in a two vehicle crash in Branch County’s Union Township.

According to the Branch County Sheriff’s Department, 56 year old Kim Pearce of Quincy was driving north on Burlington Road at 9:15 Tuesday morning and allegedly failed to stop at the intersection of Girard Road. Pearce entered the intersection, and was struck by an automobile that was heading east, and driven by 32 year old Erik Heckman of Burlington. Both vehicles went off the road.

Pearce was trapped in his vehicle and had to be removed by the Union City and Burlington Fire Departments. He was then flown from the scene by West Michigan Air Care. It was not released which hospital he was taken to.

Deputies say several of the passengers in the Heckman vehicle were injured in the crash. However, the number of people and their injures were not released.

In addition to the two area fire departments, the Union City Police Department and Life Care Ambulance also helped at the scene.
