Two People Injured In Two Vehicle Crash

(CALVIN TOWNSHIP) – Two people were injured in a two vehicle crash.
Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke says his department was called to investigate an incident that happened at 11:40 AM Thursday in Calvin Township. Deputies say 18 year old Dimitri Dewey of Granger, Indiana, was on Brownsville Street and approaching the intersection of Calvin Center Road.
Investigators say Dewey disregarded the stop sign and was struck by a semi that was heading north on Calvin Center Road, and driven by 67 year old Michael Shimp of Sturgis.
Dewey and his passenger, 21 year old Jonathan Westphal, were transported to Elkhart General Hospital to be treated for minor injuries. Shimp was not injured in the crash.
Everyone was wearing their seat belts. Assisting at the scene were the Cassopolis Police Department, Michigan State Police, the Penn Fire Department and SMCAS Ambulance.
