(MIDDLEBURY TOWNSHIP) – More information has been released on a fatal crash that claimed the life of a Goshen teen.

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office says there were two teenagers present in a crash between two vehicles that happened just before 1 AM Saturday on U.S. 20 east of County Road 31 in Middlebury Township.

Through their continuing investigation, deputies say 17 year old Elijah Coryn of Goshen was driving a car that stopped in the middle of U.S. 20 and was facing east. It’s still not known why the vehicle stopped.

Coryn, who was the driver of the car and his passenger got out of the vehicle and were standing in the road. The car did not have any lights on.

A semi was heading west and hit both the car and Coryn, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Coryn was a junior at Northridge High School, and was also a member of the school’s lacrosse team.

The Sheriff’s Office isn’t releasing any more information on the incident until their investigation is finished.
