(STURGIS) – The Sturgis Board of Education received an update on food service for the District.

During this week’s meeting, Superintendent Dr. Art Ebert shared with the Board what has been going on with the food service improvement process. The District has been working with former Sturgis High School Principal Rusty Stitt and his firm to conduct interviews with students, food service employees, parents, other employee groups, the community and food service employees outside of the school.

Ebert says the next step for Sturgis Public Schools will be Phase 1 or what can be done immediately. He says he has spoken with Food Services Director Darlene Cline about this process. ...... {LISTEN}.

Ebert says Phase 2 calls for Sturgis Public Schools to seek an outside partner that will provide the District with food service best practices. That will include training, guidance, and menu options to help meet stakeholder needs.

Ebert says he hopes to have a partner in place and ready to go for the 2024-2025 school year.
