(PLEASANT TOWNSHIP) – The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office has released the identity of a person killed in a car crash earlier this month.
Sheriff Rodney Robinson say he had been notified by the Steuben County Coroner's Office that the driver is 23 year old Blayne Lee Marple of Angola, who died as a results of blunt force trauma and thermal injuries. He was identified through DNA analysis, and next of kin has been notified.
Just after 12 AM on August 2, the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office was called to Fox Lake Road, near the Fox Lake Public Access Site on a report of a single vehicle crash, and the auto on fire. The arriving deputies found a car that was fully engulfed in flames near a utility pole.
The fire was put out, and first responders found Marple inside the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators determined that the car was traveling west on Fox Lake Road at what appeared to be a high rate of speed. The car entered a curve and went off the north side of the road. Marple over corrected and then went off the south side of the road, sliding out of control, striking a utility pole and catching fire.
