The Notre Dame womens basketball team clamped down on defense against U-Conn in the closing seconds to seal the win 81-76 and advance to the women’s national championship game.
The Huskies led by nine points with just under 8 minutes to go when the Irish turned it around with an 11-2 run to tie it at 66 with 4:25 remaining.
Arike Ogunbowale made four straight free throws to go up 78-73.
Brianna Turner – who missed last year’s championship run with an ACL injury – made a huge block on a U-Conn shot down low to help seal the win.
Notre Dame will again face Baylor in the championship game on Sunday evening.
The NCAA men’s final four tips off at 6:09 this evening when Auburn takes on 1 seed Virginia, followed by Michigan State against Texas Tech. Both games will be on CBS.
