LAGRANGE – Garrett senior Tristan Taylor won yesterday’s NECC Home Run Derby at Lakeland High School. Taylor beat teammate Gage Smith 5-4 in the final round. A big crowd turned out to watch the event which raised money for Hello Gorgeous, a non-profit organization that does makeovers and provides cosmetic information to women battling cancer.

West Noble finished 21st in the boys race and Northridge was 16th in the girls race at the state cross country championships Saturday in Terre Haute.
Angola’s Izaiah Steury was the area’s top individual in 7th place. Goshen’s Drew Hogan was 27th. Westview’s Spencer Carpenter was 45th. Goshen’s Cole Johnston was 55th. Northridge’s Jack Moore was 64th. Colten Cripe of West Noble was 81st.
In the girls race DeKalb’s Lydia Bennett was the top area finisher placing 14th. Haylee Hile of Northridge was 27th. Teammate Alison Bache was 88th.

Wapahani beat Fairfield 3-0 in the volleyball semistate championship at Plymouth.
