FULTON COUNTY – Tragedy struck Tippecanoe Valley Schools this morning.
Four young children were hit by a vehicle as they were crossing a street to board a bus. Three of the children died and the fourth was seriously injured and was flown to a Fort Wayne hospital.
Those killed were 6-year-old twins Xzavier Ingle and Mason Ingle, and their sister 9-year-old Alivia Stahl.
Police say three of the children were from the same family.
They say the bus was stopped with it’s stop arm out as the children crossed the road from a mobile home park to board the bus.
A pickup truck failed to stop and struck the children. 24-year-old Alyssa Shepherd was driving the pickup and remained at the scene and is expected to undergo blood tests to determine any evidence of intoxication.
The district has deployed grief counselors to the schools.
