We would like to invite all Veterans to the Angola VFW Post #7205 for The Gift of Love for Veterans, Inc. Luncheon for our Armed Forces Day on Saturday May 18th, starting at noon!
All Veterans come celebrate Armed Forces Day, May, 18th 2019. President Harry S. Truman in August of 1949 led the effort to establish a single holiday for citizens to come together and thank our military members for their patriotic service in support of our country and in 1961, John F. Kennedy declared Armed Forces Day a national holiday. The single day celebration stemmed from the unification of the Armed Forces under the Department of Defense, on the 3rd Saturday every May. “Our Servicemen and women are serving throughout the world as guardians of peace–many of them away from their homes, their friends and their families. They are visible evidence of our determination to meet any threat to the peace with measured strength and high resolve. They are also evidence of a harsh but inescapable truth–that the survival of freedom requires great cost and commitment, and great personal sacrifice.” President John F. Kennedy, 1963.
The Gift of Love for Veterans are hoping to see Veterans from all of the Posts in the community and any Veterans that read or hear about it! So please let your neighbors, friends and family know they are welcome to this celebration of our heroic Armed Forces
