Pursuit from Michigan ends near Howe


HOWE – A police pursuit that began in St. Joseph County Michigan ended in LaGrange County Friday evening with the arrests of three people.

Around 8:23 p-m Police from Three Rivers, White Pigeon and Michigan State Police pursued a vehicle into LaGrange County at County Road 800 West. It continued south on 775 West to State Road 120 where Shipshewana Police joined the chase.

A LaGrange County deputy and LaGrange town officer deployed stop sticks at 300 West, flattening both front tires of the fleeing vehicle.

It came to a stop near 290 West and the alleged driver – 30-year-old Rachel Sue Hicks of Bronson – fled on foot. She was captured by police officers and two civilians.

Two men in the vehicle immediately surrendered to police.

A police canine search of the vehicle turned up methamphetamine, marijuana and hypodermic needles.

Hicks was charged with possession of meth, paraphernalia, maintaining a common nuisance, resisting law enforcement, criminal recklessness, and false informing.

34-year-old Lawrence Michael Wright of Marcellus, and 29-year-old Michael Latour of Marcellus were jailed on charges of visiting a common nuisance.
