Sewer proposal for Howe area gets public hearing Wednesday

LAGRANGE – The proposed sewer system for northern portions of LaGrange County gets a public hearing Wednesday evening.

The LaGrange County Regional Utility District will hold the hearing at the Howe Military School auditorium starting at 6 p-m.

The proposed system would serve the Toll Road rest plazas, the area around Cedar Lake, and the area from the south edge of Fawn River along State Road 9 to the village of Howe north of Pigeon River.

A new treatment plant would be built just north of County Road 700 North and State Road 9.

The cost of construction is estimated at just over $15-point-8 million dollars. A preliminary estimate of monthly sewer rates is $72 per residence.

The public has a chance to ask questions and comment on the proposal during Wednesday evening’s meeting.
