Hile gets second term as mayor of Sturgis

STURGIS – There will be no change in the leadership of the Sturgis City Commission in the upcoming year.

During their organizational meeting Monday evening, the Commission unanimously voted to have Bob Hile serve a second term as Mayor of Sturgis. Also by a unanimous vote, the Commission elected Jon Good to serve again as Vice Mayor.

Unlike some communities where the position of Mayor is decided by the people, the Sturgis City Charter gives the Commission the authority to elect the Mayor and Vice Mayor.

Hile says he is very excited to serve as Mayor again and that his fellow Commissioners trust him to continue in the position.

In other business, the Commission approved their procedural policies, authorized depositories and approved their investment policy for the coming year.

The Commission then met as the Sturgis Housing Development Corporation and unanimously approved their shareholders consent resolution.

Because of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, the Commission will hold their next meeting on Monday, November 20.
