Fire destroys large pole barn near Bronson

BRONSON TOWNSHIP – A fire destroyed a Bronson area barn over the weekend.

The Bronson Fire Department responded just after 2 AM Sunday near the intersection of Holmes and Weaver Road. Crews from Consumer's Energy who were out trying to restore power from Saturday night's storm saw the fire. They woke up the owner of the property and called 911.

Bronson firefighters arrived and found the 85 foot by 85 foot pole barn fully engulfed. The Colon and Burr Oak Fire Departments provided mutual aid.

The fire was eventually put out, and the building and its contents were a total loss. Three semis inside the barn were destroyed.

Preliminary investigation shows the cause of the fire was electrical. No injuries were reported.
