Toy Run today in Sturgis

STURGIS – The roar of motorcycles will be heard today around St. Joseph County.

The 34th annual Sturgis Toy Run is happening today, with some changes to this year's event compared to previous runs.

According to the Toy Run's website, the 2017 run will be a one day event, just like it started out to be. Riders can get registered at The Hillcrest Bar and Grill on East U.S. 12.

The ride starts at 1 PM and will move through St. Joseph County, just as it has done in years past. Once the ride is over, all the participants are welcome to come back to The Hillcrest where there will be food and beverages, games and live music.

The public is welcome to participate in the run. The cost is just $10 per person or $15 per couple, and one new toy.

Following the run, the public is also welcome to come out for food and drinks at The Hillcrest. Toy Run President Victor Hargett says no cars will be allowed to park at the restaurant during the day, only motorcycles.

All of the toys that are collected will go to children in St. Joseph County who may need a little extra for the Holidays. In addition, all the registration fees go to purchase toys.

The Toy Run will partner with the Sturgis Salvation Army to distribute the toys in December.
