(STURGIS) – The Sturgis Schools Board of Education has unanimously approved a contract extension for Superintendent Dr. Art Ebert.

During Monday’s special meeting the Board was presented with an extension for Ebert. The new deal is a four year contract, which runs from July 1, 2024 until June 30, 2028. It is subject to extension, non renewal and termination, as provided by the conditions in the contract.

The extension comes following the Board’s annual review of Ebert during their June 17 meeting, and presenting him with a highly effective rating. Board of Education President Emily Halling says the Board is grateful for Ebert’s leadership and ability to keep Sturgis Public Schools moving in the right direction. She says the Board is confident Ebert will continue to do so.

As part of the contract extension, Ebert will maintain through the term of the contract all certificates, credentials and qualifications required by law. He will also faithfully and diligently perform the duties of Superintendent as required by law.

Under the new contract, Ebert’s salary for the 2024-2025 school year will be $178,500.

Ebert has been the Sturgis Superintendent since 2018.
