Cass County Stabbing Suspect In Custody

(CASSOPOLIS) – A man wanted in connection with a triple stabbing incident is in custody.

Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke says 28 year old John Coons was arrested Friday night. A resident on Spring Lake Road called police and said Coons was in her driveway. Deputies arrived and Coons surrendered peacefully.

At 10:40 PM on June 20, deputies were called to a residence in the 32,000 block of School Road in Silver Creek Township. When they arrived, they found three people with multiple stab wounds.

73 year old Charles Coulson is in critical condition at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. 75 year old Shirley Coulson is in stable condition at Lakeland Hospital while 31 year old Cody Coulson refused medical treatment.

Behnke says Coons fled the scene after the incident. The matter remains under investigation.
