(COLDWATER) – A Quincy woman arrested in Indiana following a police chase has been brought back to Michigan to face charges.

Branch County District Court personnel say 37 year old Brienne Bicknell has been arraigned on two counts of fourth degree fleeing and eluding from a police officer and a count of fourth degree child abuse. The Branch County Prosecutor’s Office also filed a fourth time habitual offender sentencing enhancer.

In addition to the charges in Michigan, Bicknell is also facing multiple charges out of Steuben County which include resisting law enforcement with a vehicle; neglect of a dependent; possession of a schedule I, II, III, or IV controlled substance; possession of a hypodermic syringe or needle; possession of marijuana; operating a vehicle while intoxicated; and reckless
riving.

Online court documents from Branch County say the high speed pursuit started in Coldwater on March 15 when Bicknell and 41 year old Joseph Bicknell were unwanted subjects at a home on Liberty Avenue.

When the Branch County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police arrived, the Bicknell’s took off, leading police west and then south into Indiana on I-69. During the chase, speeds reached over 100 MPH.

The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office put down stop sticks, which took out the passenger tires on the Bicknell’s minivan. The vehicle kept going south and finally stopped when it attempted a U-turn in the median near the 347 mile marker. Sheriff’s Deputies along with the Angola Police and the Indiana State Police took the Bicknell’s into custody.

Bicknell’s eight month old daughter was taken to Cameron Hospital and then turned over to the Indiana Department of Child Care.

Joseph Bicknell was released at the scene by Angola Police.

Brienne Bicknell plead not guilty during her Friday arraignment. Bond was set at $5,000. She is scheduled to have a probable cause hearing on April 4 and a preliminary examination on April 9.
