Teen Injured In Car v Pedestrian Accident

(FAWN RIVER TOWNSHIP) – A collision between a car and a pedestrian sent a teen to the hospital.
The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department was called just at 6:55 Monday morning to the area of Fawn River Road and Big Hill Road on the report of a vehicle versus a pedestrian crash. Deputies determined that a 16 year old Sturgis resident was driving a car west on Fawn River Road and struck a 13 year old Fawn River Township resident who was in the roadway.
The 13 year old was initially taken to Sturgis Hospital and later flown to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo to be treated for their injuries. The teen’s condition is not known.
The driver of the car and their passenger were not injured. Both were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. Weather may have been a factor in the accident, which is still under investigation. The names of those involved have not been released.
Assisting at the scene were the Sturgis Police, the Michigan State Police, the Tri-Township Fire Department and Life Care Ambulance.
