Suspect Arrested In Bixler Lake Shooting Incident

(KENDALLVILLE) – A suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting incident Saturday night at Bixler Lake.

Kendallville Police Chief Lance Waters says at approximately 10:10 PM his department responded to an alleged shooting in the 1200 block of Dowling Street where the victim, a 20 year old Fort Wayne man, was found. He had a gun shot wound to the leg and one to the pelvic area. He was taken to an area hospital and is in stable condition.

While in route, officers were told that the suspect or suspects might be in a Dodge passenger car. Police discovered a black, 2012 Dodge Avenger in the area of Park Avenue and Dowling Street. The occupants of the car were detained.

Officers arrested 20 year old Taron Swazer of Fort Wayne on felony charges of aggravated battery and criminal recklessness. Swazer is being held without bond in the Noble County Jail.

Assisting with the incident were the Noble County Sheriff's Department, the Avilla Police and the Indiana State Police. The incident is still under investigation.
